Prem Rawat's Teaching about Dirt - In His Own Words
It was only in the early 1970s that Prem Rawat, posing as Guru Maharaj Ji and acclaimed as the Lord of the Universe, made speeches using Hindu/Vedanta/Sant Mat concepts. He needed his simplistic version of Sant Mat to attract followers at that time but religion and spirituality are not areas in which he has much personal interest. After 1973 he mostly wanted to talk about Himself. After 2005 the content of his speeches seem immaterial to his followers. His speeches became vaguer and vaguer and more anodyne despite his belief he was being controversial, harping on death and human beings being made of dirt. How he loved to speak, with positive glee, of his audience as dirt. As always Rawat is fast and loose with his 'facts' - "that same dirt that that moon is made from, that that sun is made from, you are made from" -
Why is it that we understand the value of a person only when they go away? Why is it that we understand the value of breath when we cannot take one anymore? What is the value of breath? The value of breath is that it allows you to be you and not dirt.Is that valuable? Yes. And what is it? It is a gift. From whom? From God. The one that cannot be defined - that God. So my question to you is: In this breath, have you smelled God's perfume? Do you want to? Would it matter to you to feel the presence of peace in this breath? Some have said, "This body is dirt. And this dirt will one day become dirt again." I know nobody likes to think like that. I don't either. - Perfume of God, Inspire Electronic Newsletter volume 6 published 2nd March 2009
What will happen to me, to you? I have no illusions. This body is dirt. Most of the elements that make up this earth are dirt, and one day, the dirt will go back to being dirt - ADI magazine 06, published 10/12/2011
All that's standing between them and dying is that Death sobers up. And when that happens, they're gone. They find themselves not close to nature, but in it. As manure. As their body rots and becomes dirt again - ADI magazine 09, published 10/12/2011
Some have said, "This body is made of dirt, and this dirt will one day become dirt again.- I know nobody likes to think about that. I don't either. But it puts me in my place - REALITY OF EXISTENCE Ancient Wisdom Series published 15th January 2011.
I am part of that dirt.
This is where I came from,
and this is
where I will go:
to dirt. - No Ordinary Box published 27 November 2013
For approximately 4.5 billion years, you were dirt. That's the age of the Earth, 4.5 billion years. So for 4.5 billion years you were dirt. Now some scientists figure that it'll be about 15 billion years. Twenty billion years. The Earth is going to be around and after that it'll disappear. So for the next fifteen billion years what are you going to be? Dust. You were dust and you're going to be dust. What are you now? You are alive. The dust talks. The dust smiles. The dust dances. The dust cures other dust of ailments. The dust thinks about going to Mars. The dust wants to discover the universe. You being alive is the exception to the dust. Dust you were, dust you will be - Prem Rawat: Medicine For Peace, 21st November 2014
Who are we? Maybe I should talk about that. So, don't think this is un-significant. We're dirt. Why do you laugh? Because you don't understand the value of dirt. Dirt is the most significant thing there is. Do you know? You know why?! Because the entire universe is made out of it. We all are considered patriots if we sing praises of our countries. "Know the anthem." I mean, in India they're going through it; it's like you know "You have to be able to say this; yes, you have to say this; you have to be patriotic! You have to…"
Courtesy of? All these countries, courtesy of? Dirt. You can't have a country in floating ocean. All courtesy of dirt! So dirt is very significant! People have died protecting dirt! People have become heroes protecting dirt. Civilizations were raised and razed - that's a good one, huh? - raised and razed because of dirt!
And when the sun is finished glowing, what does it become? Dirt. What is gold? Compressed dirt. See, you're catching on, how important dirt is. And guess what moi is made out of. Dirt. - Nothing Trivial - Miami Florida, Sep 19 2017
And when I look at-I look at everything. When I look at dirt-and this is who I am. I am that dirt. From these elements, the very thing that I look at and call just "dirt," that's what made me. This is-this skin, these bones, this blood, these muscles, the organs, that's what they're made out of. And then the day that I hit the other wall; I'm gone, that's what I'm going to become-dust. From dust we come and to dust we go - Lockdown Day 13
So, when somebody says, "You're made out of dirt" - should we, should you be shocked? Is that belittling you? No, that's just stating a fact. You should give some thought to it: "My God, what's going on here - and dirt talks? Dirt walks? Dirt has learnt how to fly airplanes, fly gliders, fly helicopters? Swim deep underwater? Create rockets? Reach for the moon? Reach for the planets?" Sure. Sure. Fantastic, great, amazing. But don't forget, dirt is dirt. And one day it will try to join the big dirt where it came from. - ONE 2 ONE WITH PREM RAWAT, No. 9 - The Grand Illusion (Part 2)
