WHO U R was another attempt to make Maharaji seem cool, a hapless task indeed. It couldn't be done in 1972 and it couldn't be done in 2004 with a 4½ minute slideshow and video of a speech by a loud, fat Indian dressed in a suit, no matter how expensive the suit, or how empowered he feels wearing it. The DVD had a slideshow "history" of his career in low definition which was both completely false and partially true at the same time, something his minions are very good at. He came in jaunty and upbeat, even more confident and smug than usual. Why not? He knew the crowd would be in the palm of his hand, no matter what he said or even whatever he did. They'd been hanging off his words for 30 years by then but, fortunately, he didn't have that effect on others.

This wasn't the first time Rawat had attempted to go on trend. In 1982 there wasa glossy updated Maharaj Ji bankrolled by the soon to be bankrupt premie Johhny Young. Maharaji lost 50% of his followers shortly thereafter. They tried showing beautiful, trendy people in his advertising but it just makes him look dowdier by comparison. I don't think the WHO U R org internet site lasted long and there's very little left of it, just this one image on the Wayback Machine. How many websites dedicated to Rawat have come and gone over the decades, there's so many broken links on my site I don't even bother to check them anymore.

I'm not here to tell you "Um, yeah, you know, walk backwards three miles a day and everything will be fine" Of course not! He was there to tell them to sit an hour a day in pseudo-meditation with the methods he teaches you, listen and watch all his videotaped speeches, do voluntary labour in his service and/or donate as much money to him as you can. But definitely no walking, no exercise and eat all the cholesterol, fatty foods you can, that's what he does.

Maharaji hopes people won't understand that its not true if he says he talks about "how it is" rather than "how it could be." Its nto true just because he says so. It's not even true if his cult members say he talks about "how it is." They're true believerst in a cult and he is a cult leader. Cult leaders and cult members are not the people who get to make decisions about whether they're in a cult, its everyone else who decides. Maharaji talks about a something non-existent and strong evidence for this is this very DVD.

Maharaji has become so magnaminous, he not only loves his premies, he loves people who come to hear one of his speeches and leave unimpressed. He loves then so much that he hopes they attain the peace beyond all understanding anywhere, anyhow, anyway, from anybody.
