Dear Everyone,
I am sending you a template of the banner used to advertise, (Carey Park, Cnr of Marine Pde & Queen St. Southport), the just screened UN Anniversary event,
I had a look at the banner several times when it was up and it seems to me to be a bit too wordy and busy. A lot to read and absorb as you are passing by in your car!
Using this many words of course also results in the font sizes having to be reduced generally and I noticed they were relatively small compared to the other banners displayed there.
The banner is also to long in height to be fitted properly to the fence, resulting in a saggy look.
So what can we do?
From all of the advertising of the event, including the banner, only eight new people responded and attended the event.
It would be great if we can respond to Maharaji's coming visit with a new series of follow up events and propagation on the GC.
Our repertoire could include the next special screening event scheduled for screening sometime in November.
If you have any suggestions, ideas, on the wording and format of the banner please send them to me. My own are that we reduce the height of the banner slightly, possibly drop the heading 'WORDS OF PEACE' (question mark there for me on a 'Christian', or 'spiritual' connection that could be made) and simplify the message 'MAHARAJI TALKS ABOUT LIFE AND OUR POTENIAL TO ENJOY IT'
We also need to increase the size of the font.
The location itself (if we use the S.C.C as the venue) has maximum exposure and is ideal from this perspective.
If the wording, 'Senior Citizens Centre' and our using this venue for these special events raises another question mark for some, then perhaps we could look at the Fradgley Hall, Burleigh venue again. (If available). We had a great response (51 new people) at the three events held there last year.
As an advertising concept this indicates, with the right preparation, using a banner is a cost effective and productive form of promoting these events.
Justins Park is also a great place to display the banner!
There would of course be a cost if we choose to change the banner although Lilian tells me her Filipino friends are happy to help in any writing required.
Sorry this ended up so long.
