Minutes for Meeting - 20th June 2001

In attendance: 5 of the usual suspects. Apologies: 8

Material Resources: K. provided an update which included the following details: a good quality display/storage cupboard has been purchased (thank you to G. S. for delivering it from Brisbane) and is now stored at the Life Education Centre. Many items in stock are to be sold off at reduced prices - for example 1999 and earlier videos will sell at $10 and audios at $5; January 2000 to September 200 videos are reduced to $20 and audios $10. Material Resources currently carry audio CD's ($16) and many new photos. Sales are generally lower when compared with this time last year. This seems to be a national trend since the introduction of the satellite broadcasts. However interest in the printed materials appears to have increased. Si. has joined the MR team. Thank you to S. and A. for their energy and contributions to the material resources area.

Information: This area continues to operate in line with the procedures that are in place nationally to ensure that everything that is printed or circulated meets the required standards of quality etc.

PR: The established procedures continue to be adhered to - as for Information.

Knowledge Introduction Training: A regional "KIT" is planned for 21/22 July at Ivory's Rock Conference Centre. This information has been circulated widely. People are asked to register their interest in attending before 30th June. (Contact A. if needing help)

Events: Numbers of personnel helping with event set up have stabilised again following the "disruption" caused prior to and following the international event. Anyone who would like to assist at events is warmly invited to do so, and can see M., D. or G. M.

Finances: J. forwarded the report for May. Expenses were covered for the month by the contributions received. B. provided the following update: On the national level, the resources which support the production of videos etc. are currently not meeting that need. This appears to be an outcome of the change to home viewing. A request has been made of the various centres to communicate with the national team regarding this situation and look at ways to recover it. This will be followed up in the near future, as the present time is not suitable for organising a conference call due to term holidays falling now and people being unavailable to participate. Opportunities exist for people to participate in the roles of looking after the local finances and as the contact for the local centre to communicate with the national and wider teams. Anyone who would like to participate in either (or both) of these roles could see M., B. or J. as soon as possible.

Video Library: S. has been reorganising the library and resourcing the areas where a lack of specific videos has arisen - e.g. the recommended viewing for people interested in receiving Knowledge and people who have recently received Knowledge. Some purchasing will be completed through the funds already available to video libraries, but further expense will be incurred. S. asked if some of the funds from the planned fundraising event can be allocated to this expense. The meeting agreed with this request.

Fundraising event: As only five people were at this meeting, it was agreed that the decisions regarding a fundraising event could not be made wisely and without the strong support from many people.

This meeting therefore proposed and agreed that a meeting be called for Tuesday 10th July at 6.30pm to 8 pm at 2/30 Duet Drive, Mermaid Waters

(S.'s place) to discuss and finalise the proposed fundraising event. Everyone is warmly invited to attend. This meeting will focus on the fundraising item, and any general items will also be dealt with only if time permits.

Many thanks to S. for his hospitality and the use of his place for the meeting.
