Gold Coast Draft Action Plan Focal Points
Dear J.,
We have selected PR as one of the six focal points in our draft action plan for the Gold Coast for 2000. Therefore we wish to organise and conduct PR training for all people who participate in (set up for) local events. We have had simple PR training in the past - and I have been in touch with Nils in the past regarding how much PR needed to be developed. To date, we have gone along comfortably with this area but know it is time for greater skills for a wider group of people.
Hope this helps. P. S. is our PR contact. He is on FC.
Regarding costs involved in PM (Propagation Material?)and the circulation of it:
We have not specified these expenses in our ongoing financial reports as all of it is currently donated. However an estimate of costs involved in stationery, stamps, copying, etc. would be minimally $350 for the Gold Coast area.
Thirdly, regarding the FC message to LPMC (??) ("Paper for SB1 Invitation") -
Although you are not seeking this information, we have Spicers Tudor Parchment Blue Weave. In fact I have spent many (happy) hours locating good papers - my main problem has been the growing scarcity of 100 gsm, which I consider is the best gauge. Due to its gradually becoming less available, I have been forced to use 89 gsm more often.
Are there criteria in place stating that all PM has to be produced identically? I believe the skills and awareness in the people who look after PM are developing, and I consider it is important to trust their initiative and allow respect for their abilities. This is important if they are to continue to feel valued and contributing in this area, and are not just carrying out a robotic procedure. (I am certainly not suggesting any change to standards, but is a specific regulation over every facet of the production of flyers etc. necessary?)
When we followed the explicit instructions to produce the 'One Team' flyers last year, I was not happy with the result. I found the final brochure to be lacking in quality, in that it was flimsy and the colour was not attractive.
Please do not consider my query as a criticism but I feel strongly about trusting that the people who are in this role, do already have, or are developing the ability/skills to do things well. Acknowledgment and the utilisation of this is very empowering for all concerned.
Kind regards,
A.
