Dear Kaye.,

I am writing on behalf of all of the people who attended the latest planning and update meeting. Concern has been gradually developing over some months among people who are involved in service locally regarding the imposition of new roles from the national level.

One concern is that there is lack of clarity in the communication structures now in place. Could you please send the new and complete organisational chart of these communication structures that are now in place?

What is the benefit at the local level of the structure?

What is the difference between the contact person's role and the new role as defined by A.(see FC of Sunday, January 17: Local contacts item/Local Resource Contact Role Brief). People here considered A.'s role descriptions (three aspects of the Local Resource Contact Role) as overriding the local contact person's role and are seeking clarification.

Why has the role (Local Resource Contact) been changed again from that which was previously described. (e.g. the finance management aspect).

Because we have worked towards inclusiveness for some years and believe it is becoming a more promising reality locally, people believe that the current function of the local planning meetings and the current model being used locally cannot work effectively when communication enters via various channels and in fragmented ways.

Please detail how we can reconcile and coordinate an acceptable operating role locally with the national team. The question has arisen as to the credibility of people putting themselves forward to serve when structures from outside are imposed and control of activities may be passed over to a structure and control that is outside of the local activity.

The statements listed above were collected when discussion of the LRC Role Brief occurred. I wanted to relay them as they were expressed. People are broadminded and open to change and do not consider that they are only a local group but are certainly aware of being part of the big world of K. One other comment was in the vein of that when more roles are imposed "will there be one for someone to do my practice for me?"

I am not trying to sound dramatic with these statements. However people feel there needs to be some clarity re the current organisation and how does the local activity fit into it successfully while still nurturing inclusiveness.
